Minutes of the Meeting of the St. Joseph’s Parish Council

Monday, January 3, 2005

 

 

The meeting was called to order by the president, Jack Marinella.

A prayer was read and roll call was taken.

Parish council members who were present: Sal Capelli, Alex Tigro, Frank Carelli, Madge Codone, Elvera Porter,  Nimia Bermudez, Augusta Saldano, Joe Olive, Rick Blasberg, Ron Chance, Maryann Laslie, Mary Kryvoruka, Hugh LaMonica, Anthony Capella, and new members who were recognized: Marty Badagliacco, Pat Rodio, Anthony Padovani, and Pat Campanella.

 

New committees were formed, and they are as follows:

Ways and Means-(fund raising for the church), chairman: Anthony Capella

Ecumenical-(interfaith activities), chairman: Joe Olive

Education-(supports parish DRE and CCD), chairman: Anthony Padovani

Liturgical-supports pastor in planning the liturgy during the seasons of the year), chairman: Marty Badagliacco

Maintenance-(physical plans and maintenance of church), chairman: Sal Capella

Social Action-(social welfare, food programs in the community), chairman: Elvera Porter

Religious Celebration (religious celebrations in the church), chairman: Frank Carelli

Youth-(faith development of parish youth), chairman: Rick Blasberg

Evangelization-(spreading the GOOD NEWS, faith), chairman: Hugh LaMonica

 

The By-Laws Committee will meet with Monsignor to review the guidelines for the council.

 

Monsignor would like everyone to know that everyone in the parish is welcome to serve on any committee!

 

A financial report was given by Madge Codone on the New Year’s Eve party.  Total income was $3,450.00, total expenses were $2,405.30, and total net profit was approximately $1,044.70.  Donations were recognized by WA WA, Restuccio farms, D&D Deli, and Joe Pantalone.  Cards of thanks will be sent.  A Spring social is in the making.

 

Monsignor spoke on the changes made in the parish so far: a new trash service, a new bulletin company to be looked at, housekeeping was “cut” in the Rectory, all of which will save money for the parish.  He also gave the council some of his ideas and hopes for future plans for the good of the parish.

 

Closing prayer was led by Monsignor, and Marty Badagliacco will lead the prayer for the next meeting which will be on Feb. 7th, following 6:30 Mass.  A prayer was said for Fr. Mike Parente who has recently passed away.

 

The meeting was closed by Madge Codone and seconded by Anthony Padovani.
