Religious Celebrations Committee: Frank Carrelli, chairperson, Nick Domenico, Elvira Porter, Steve Kincaid, Pat Provnick
The Candle Shrine is now moving from across the street by the convent to inside the church on the altar.

The Religious Articles stand is moving from the Convent ground to the side of the Church where it was located last year.

Car Raffle stand is moving from the corner of 3rd and French to 3rd and Pleasant in front of Parish Hall along the street side.

The car is moving from the corner of 3rd and French Street to the corner of 3rd and Orchard Church side in front of the Parish Hall towards the Church side.

A committee is being assembled consisting of Parish Council members from the three parishes to take charge of each saint in the procession.

St. John and the Assumption Societies attended this month’s meeting to discuss fund raising during the Mt. Carmel Festival.

Hope to setup stand movement and construction sometime starting this week.
The Website is now fully updated. Only some minor additions must be made.

All food stand sandwich prices will be raised. A cost analysis is being done for this month's celebrations’ meeting.

The Mt. Carmel Feast committee needs volunteers to get the stands from storage and put them up for the feast. Volunteers can call Frank Carrelli or Sal Capelli.

Evangelical Committee: Hugh LaMonaca, chairperson, Pat Campanella, Pat Provnick, Joseph Olive, Minerva Rodriguez
Hugh LaMonaca reported that Kathy DeBlasi, who recently moved to Hammonton, is interested in helping us form a parish welcoming committee. We will be preparing some printed material concerning the parish, its ministries, and organizations that could be given to the people when the visits are made. We will be asking the various parish organizations for information that we can use to prepare this material. If anyone is interested in being a member of the welcoming committee, contact Hugh LaMonaca.

The St. Vincent DePaul Society has been operating the parish food pantry for the past month. The pantry is open from 7 to 9 p.m. each Thursday for the distribution of food to the needy. Food pantry volunteers are assigned one Thursday per month, in teams of three or four people, to staff the pantry. Our main problem, so far, is that we are not getting customers. The pantry needs to be publicized. Hugh suggested putting the hours of operation on the front page of the parish bulletin and in the “church activities” section of the local newspaper.

It was decided that the weekly coffee and donuts will be suspended at the end of June for the remainder of the summer. Fr. Carmen would like to have coffee and donuts served only on specific occasions after that. He would also like coffee and donuts to be served outside, in front of the church, and would like Father's Day, June 18th, to be a trial run for the outside service.

Old Business
Pat Provnick reported that the Seven-Year Development Plan committee has met and is working diligently on the plan but liabilities, condition of buildings, immediate needs, long-term needs, and future plans need to be studied.

New Business
Fr. Carmen distributed copies of the Parish Review and Support Memorandum regarding the Results of Parish Visit to St. Joseph Church. Fr. Carmen brought several points to the attention of the Parish Council, most of which pertained to the record keeping and accounting deficiencies in the parish. A copy of the paper will be kept with these minutes.

Fr. Carmen mentioned that several changes are taking place in the Hammonton parishes, the two schools, and the convent. Changes are also taking place among the maintenance staff. Sr. Helen Sanchez will be the new principal and Sr. Nicolina Spolzino will be the new superior of the house.

Fr. Carmen mentioned that a new accounting system has been put into place. This will make reports easier to understand and compare. Purchase Orders will be submitted to Fr. Carmen and all checks will be signed by him. The feast will have a separate feast account; items, such as car, donations, advertising, mailing, red stand, funnel cake, cookies stand, etc. will be kept separate. In the past, nothing was able to be tracked. All statue money will be collected by a designated person at each statue. The donations will be counted, expenses taken out, remainder divided among the three parishes.

With Fr. Carmen’s effort to keep a unified tone regarding all aspects of the Mt. Carmel Feast, members of the St. John Society and Assumption Society were asked to attend this meeting. Several issues were addressed (expenses of mailing, advertising, insurance, license, etc. are mainly paid by St. Joseph Parish while others are benefiting from the profits).

Richard Grillo informed the Parish Council that all the money made by the St. John Society goes back to the church.

Charlie Gazzara informed the council that their profits are used for several different charities. After much discussion, Hugh LaMonaca made a motion that the Assumption Society be treated as a vendor and keep their proceeds . A vote was taken. All were in favor except for two exemptions.

Further discussion regarding the Mausoleum will continue in July and reported back to the council.

Decisions regarding the St. Anthony Hall, a gathering place, and funds are still questionable; mainly regarding timeliness.

There will be no Parish Council meetings in July and August.

At 10:05 p.m. the meeting was closed.

Respectfully submitted,

Sr. Dorothy Toussaint
Secretary
